Following last year's announcement that the second-generation Backbone One supports iPhone 16, the company is advancing its lineup with the launch of the Backbone Pro. Designed as a next-generation controller, it offers versatile connectivity via Bluetooth for wireless play or through USB-C for direct physical connection to your device.
The wired connection reportedly ensures zero latency while eliminating the need to recharge the peripheral's battery. Meanwhile, the wireless mode provides enhanced portability and flexibility. Notably, the Backbone Pro is compatible with a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs, and VR headsets.
Positioned as an all-in-one solution, FlowState Technology allows for seamless switching between previously paired devices. The engineering team has reportedly dedicated significant effort to achieving what they claim is the "smallest form factor ever" capable of housing full-size joysticks—a challenging feat indeed.
This model includes customization options and remappable back buttons, complemented by the user-friendly Backbone app. Through this application, users can reportedly access titles from Apple Arcade, Netflix, Xbox Remote Play, Steam Link, and Nvidia GeForce NOW. Additionally, subscribers to Backbone+ gain free entry to its extensive game library.
