Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the upcoming kart racer from Sega and Sonic Team, promises the biggest roster yet, featuring iconic characters from the Sonic and Sega universes. A recent PlayStation.blog post revealed exciting new gameplay mechanics and features.

A Massive Roster of Beloved Characters

The game boasts a confirmed launch roster of 23 characters, with more to come. The revealed lineup includes fan favorites like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, alongside characters from Sonic Riders (Jet, Wave, Storm), the Deadly Six (Zavok, Zazz), Team Dark (Shadow, Rouge, E-123 Omega), Dr. Eggman and his creations, the Chaotix, and even Blaze, Silver, Cream, and Big.

Interdimensional Racing with Travel Rings

Prepare for dynamic races! Travel Rings transport racers to different CrossWorlds in real-time, dramatically altering the race environment. Each CrossWorld offers unique challenges, including monstrous encounters, engaging obstacles, and breathtaking scenery, creating a theme park-like experience with surprises around every corner. Expect 24 main tracks and 15 dynamic CrossWorlds to explore. The tracks themselves will transform throughout each lap, adding another layer of strategic depth, reminiscent of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

Extensive Customization and High-Octane Action

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds offers unparalleled vehicle customization. Players can modify their vehicles extensively, tweaking everything from body parts and wheels to colors and glow effects. In addition to the deep vehicle customization, 23 power-up gadgets and 45 unique vehicles await, including the return of the Extreme Gear hoverboards from Sonic Riders, adding a boost-based racing element.

Takashi Iizuka, Sonic Creative Officer, describes the game as "a great culmination of all the Sonic Racing series games to date."

Closed Network Test: Get Involved!

A closed network test (exclusively for PlayStation 5) is scheduled for February 21st-24th, 2025. Registration is open until February 19th, 2025. Participants who complete the post-test survey will receive an exclusive in-game sticker and title. Test times are:
