Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown!
Love Sudoku? Want to challenge friends or compete as a team? Battle of Sudoku is a multiplayer version of the classic puzzle game. The goal remains the same: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so each column, row, and 3x3 subgrid contains all digits from 1 to 9.
Before you begin, set the difficulty (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 hardest) in the game options. This determines the number of pre-filled digits. All players start with the identical puzzle.
Two Game Modes:
- Show Opponent's Correct Numbers: Each correctly placed number is visible to all players, earning you points. You can't place a number already used by another player. Speed and accuracy are key!
- Hidden Correct Numbers: Players can't see each other's correct numbers, allowing for multiple players to potentially earn points for the same number.
Time-Outs: Incorrect numbers result in a time-out (default 30 seconds, configurable in options), preventing you from making further moves while others continue.
Scoring: Correct numbers earn points based on difficulty level; incorrect numbers cost you half that amount.
Winning the Game:
- With "Show Opponent's Numbers" enabled: The player with the most points at the end wins.
- With "Show Opponent's Numbers" disabled: The game ends when one player solves the puzzle. This doesn't grant extra points; other players can still win with fewer mistakes.
Team Play vs. Individual Play:
Team mode allows two teams to compete. Join a team (1 or 2), and once at least two players join a team, the team is formed. Points are added to the team's total score, and notes/filled colors are shared among teammates, enabling collaborative strategies.
Solving Tools:
A toolbar below the puzzle offers tools to aid in solving:
- Pen Tool: Add notes (mini-numbers) to squares. Selecting a number already present removes it.
- Fill Mode: Change the background color of squares (including solved ones).
