HBO's critically acclaimed The Last of Us series is projected to span four seasons, according to an executive.
Francesca Orsi of HBO indicated a four-season run is likely for the popular adaptation, though she emphasized the absence of a finalized plan. "While I can't confirm it definitively, it's looking like this season, followed by two more, will conclude the series," Orsi told Deadline.
Regarding the anticipated Season 2 premiere in April 2025, Orsi hinted at the introduction of intriguing factions: "Certain elements, particularly the various factions vying for survival, will emerge as a captivating survivalist group with a unique and distinct presentation," she stated. "Their portrayal, through wardrobe and makeup, will be noticeably different from the average character."

Those who missed Season 1 can still catch up before Season 2's April premiere. Unlike Season 1, which adapted the first game completely, Season 2 will expand upon The Last of Us Part 2 over multiple episodes, utilizing a "natural breakpoint" after seven episodes.
Season 2 will feature several new cast members, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel. Catherine O'Hara's role remains undisclosed.
IGN's review of The Last of Us Season 1 lauded it as "a stunning adaptation that will captivate newcomers and resonate with those familiar with Joel and Ellie's journey," earning a 9/10 rating.
