The gaming community was recently abuzz with news about Reburn, a new studio established by former members of 4A Games Ukraine, the creators behind the renowned Metro series. Amidst this development, 4A Games has stepped forward to reassure fans of their unwavering commitment to the franchise. This statement was prompted by Reburn's announcement of their debut project, La Quimera, which sparked speculation about the future trajectory of the Metro series.

In their official statement, 4A Games not only congratulated Reburn on La Quimera but also firmly reiterated their dedication to the Metro series. They stated:

“We remain the team responsible for bringing you the beloved Metro games. Our efforts toward the next Metro installment continue in partnership with Dmitry Glukhovsky, guided by the same visionaries and talent that have shaped the series since its inception.”

Beyond their focus on the next Metro game, 4A Games hinted at the development of a brand-new intellectual property (IP), though they kept the details under wraps. They expressed pride in their Ukrainian roots and the diversity of their team, noting that a significant portion of their staff—approximately 150 out of over 200 members—remains based in Kyiv, with additional operations in Sliema, Malta, and remote setups.

Addressing the organizational split, 4A Games provided clarity on their relationship with Reburn:

“Following the completion of Metro Exodus and its DLC, we collaborated closely with our partners at 4A Games Ukraine through outsourcing. Post-Exodus, we founded 4A Games Limited in Kyiv, absorbing roughly 50 more colleagues to sustain our momentum. Simultaneously, 4A Games Ukraine embarked on their standalone journey with La Quimera, eventually rebranding as Reburn.”

Since the launch of Metro Exodus in early 2019, the series has seen a surge in fan interest, despite limited updates. While spin-offs and the Enhanced Edition have kept the community engaged, many are eagerly anticipating the next installment in Dmitry Glukhovsky’s dystopian universe. Supported by Embracer Group (formerly THQ Nordic), 4A Games initially hinted at a new Metro title in 2019, setting a tentative "202X" release window before going silent. Now, it appears that the wait for the next chapter may soon be over.
