Paramount Pictures has made notable adjustments to its upcoming film schedule, pushing back the release dates of The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2. Both films—part of Nickelodeon’s expanding cinematic slate—are now set to arrive several months later than originally planned.

As reported by Variety, the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, titled The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, will no longer debut on January 30, 2026. Instead, it is now scheduled for a theatrical premiere on October 9, 2026. This marks a delay of nearly nine months from its previously announced date and follows an earlier postponement that had moved the film from its original October 10, 2025, release.

No official reason for the latest delay has been shared, though confirmed voice actors Steven Yeun, Dave Bautista, and Eric Nam are still attached to the project. The film is expected to follow the original Avatar protagonist in a story set many years after the events of the beloved animated series. It was officially named during last month’s CinemaCon and is set to be the first installment in a planned trilogy.

Also affected by this reshuffle is the sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2, which was initially slated for a October 9, 2026, premiere. The new release date is now set for September 17, 2027—pushing fans’ wait for the continuation of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo’s journey by almost a full year.

This delay means it will take even longer to see how the intriguing mid-credits scene from the first film pays off. Currently, details regarding the sequel’s plot and cast remain undisclosed. In the meantime, fans can enjoy the Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series while they await further news.

While updates on the movie continue to develop, fans can also look forward to Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series, which is expected to arrive sooner than the theatrical release of the Nickelodeon film.
