Surprise Patch for Dishonored 2: Bug Fixes and Language Updates
Dishonored 2, a critically acclaimed Bethesda title for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, has received an unexpected small update across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. This minor patch appears focused on bug fixes and language file updates. The update's size is minimal (230MB), although Xbox users report needing a full 40GB re-download.
Arkane Lyon, the studio behind Dishonored 2 and the recent Deathloop, is currently occupied with development of Marvel's Blade. This update arrives amidst speculation about a potential 60 FPS patch, a feature notably absent from Dishonored 2 despite being present in other Arkane titles. While a 60 FPS upgrade remains a fan desire, its absence in this update is disappointing. The possibility of such an update coinciding with the game's tenth anniversary in 2026 remains open, though a long wait for such a feature might prove frustrating for many players.
The update's release comes at a time when fans are also anticipating a potential third mainline Dishonored game. However, the closure of Arkane Austin in 2024, the studio responsible for the original Dishonored and Prey, has likely impacted Arkane's development pipeline and could significantly delay any future Dishonored installments. With Arkane Lyon currently focused on Marvel's Blade, a new Dishonored title remains a distant prospect.
