Assassin's Creed Shadows' "Claws of Awaji" DLC Leaks on Steam
A Steam leak has revealed details about the first DLC for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji." This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant amount of new content.
Assassin's Creed Shadows, the series' first foray into East Asia, introduces dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has been fraught with challenges, including negative reactions to character reveals and multiple delays. The latest delay pushed the launch date to March 20, 2025.
The leaked Steam update, since removed, detailed "Claws of Awaji's" features: a new region to explore, a fresh weapon type, additional skills, new gear, and enhanced abilities. The DLC is expected to add over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the DLC and a bonus mission.
Delayed Release and Uncertain Future for Ubisoft
This leak follows another delay announcement for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Initially slated for November 15, 2024, the release was first postponed to February 14, 2025, and then again to March 20, 2025, to allow for further polishing.
Ubisoft, the game's publisher, is facing uncertainty amidst rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition. Recent underperformance of titles like XDefiant and Star Wars Outlaws has added to the company's challenges.
