Atelier Resleriana Global EOS Announced: Forgotten Alchemy and Polar Night Liberator

Another mobile game has reached its end of service (EOS), and this time, it's Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator. Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have announced that their RPG will soon be shutting down, but this closure only affects the global version. Launched globally in January 2024, the game struggled to gain traction, leading to its untimely EOS. We'll explore the reasons behind this decision in more detail later.

In contrast, the Japanese version of Atelier Resleriana continues to flourish. Launched in September 2023, it's preparing to celebrate its 1.5th anniversary in March 2025. This stark difference highlights the irony of the situation, which we'll delve into shortly.

When Is the Atelier Resleriana EOS?

The global version of Atelier Resleriana will cease operations on March 28th, 2025, the same month the Japanese version celebrates its 1.5th anniversary. While Japanese players advance to Chapter 22 (Part 2), global players will be concluding their journey at Chapter 21 (Part 1). The in-game purchase system has already been disabled, but players can still use their Lodestar Gems until the end. Koei Tecmo has committed to providing new content and events leading up to the shutdown.

Adding to the irony, the global version recently celebrated its first anniversary on January 25th, 2024. It's a bittersweet milestone as players now prepare to bid farewell to the game.

Why Is It Shutting Down?

The developers have stated that after evaluating their ability to maintain the game at a satisfactory level for players, they've decided to shut down the global version. The game failed to make a significant impact on its player base. Just a couple of months after its launch, players began voicing concerns about the gacha system. Despite the appeal of the main characters, the gameplay and monetization model, coupled with severe power creep, couldn't retain players' interest.

These factors ultimately led to the announcement of the EOS for Atelier Resleriana's global version. If you wish to bid farewell to the game, you can find it on the Google Play Store.
