The stress test for what might be the final major update, Patch 8, of Baldur's Gate III has officially kicked off. While some Sony console players got an early sneak peek at the patch, the developers suggest reinstalling the game if you're not keen on testing the new features.
One of the standout features in Patch 8 is the introduction of crossplay, which means players on different platforms—consoles and PCs—can now join forces in the same game. All you need is a linked Larian account, and you can invite friends from any platform to play together. Even modded gameplay will work across platforms, but there are a couple of rules to follow. All mods used by the PC player must also be accessible on Mac and consoles, and the host's lobby can't have more than a double-digit number of mods installed.
For multiplayer enthusiasts, there's fantastic news: split-screen co-op is now being tested on the Xbox Series S. This feature was previously unavailable on this less powerful console, making this a significant update for its users.
Patch 8 also brings a host of other exciting updates, including a new photo mode with tons of customization options and the addition of 12 new subclasses, adding even more variety to your gameplay experience. Larian Studios has worked on fixing bugs and rebalancing elements, although some issues are still being ironed out.
