Bandai Namco to End PAC-MAN Mobile Service

Bandai Namco has made the surprising announcement to shut down PAC-MAN Mobile, coinciding ironically with the legendary icon's 45th anniversary celebration this year. Launched over a decade ago, this mobile rendition of the classic game has been a staple for many fans.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. As of April 1st, in-app purchases have been discontinued. If you are among the dedicated players still enjoying the game, you can continue playing until the final date.

The decision to completely shut down the game rather than convert it to an offline version has left many players feeling disappointed. An offline version would have been welcomed by the community and could have continued generating revenue for Bandai Namco.

PAC-MAN Mobile, originally known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the classic arcade experience. It included an iconic 8-bit arcade mode alongside a Story Mode with numerous original mazes. The game also featured an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events, allowing players to earn exclusive skins. Additionally, the Tournament Mode provided weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels, and a variety of skins were available for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the joystick, and more.

The Reason

The decision to shut down the game stems from persistent issues and bugs that have accumulated over the years, significantly impacting the gameplay experience. The initial excitement following its launch on Android, with players competing for high scores and leaderboard rankings, has faded due to these ongoing problems.

If you're eager to experience PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
