Bandai Namco has officially announced the closure of Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage, their fortress strategy action RPG. This news, while disappointing, isn't unexpected for many fans, especially considering the fate of other Naruto gacha games like Naruto Blazing, which also struggled with PvP issues before shutting down.
When Is Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage Shutting Down?
The game, which launched in 2017, will be shutting down on December 9th, 2024, after nearly seven years of operation. Players can continue to enjoy the game until the shutdown date. Before it closes, there are several events lined up. The Village Leader World Championship will run from October 8th to October 18th, followed by the All-Out Mission from October 18th to November 1st. A 'Thanks For Everything' campaign will then take place from November 1st to December 1st as a farewell gesture.
During these final months, players can still collect Ninja Cards, participate in summoning events, and use their in-game items until the very last day. If you have any Gold Coins saved, it's advisable to spend them before the game's closure.
What Went Wrong?
Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage started strong, offering players a balanced system where they could build their village, set traps, and use their favorite Naruto characters for defense. However, the game began to falter about halfway through its lifespan. The introduction of Minato marked a shift towards a more pronounced power creep, which didn't sit well with many players. Additionally, the game saw an increase in pay-to-win elements, a reduction in free-to-play rewards, and a near disappearance of multiplayer features.
These changes made it evident to many that Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage was heading towards closure. If you're curious, you can still try the game on the Google Play Store before it shuts down.
