Batman Game Rumored for Development at Rocksteady

Author : Anthony Feb 20,2025

Reputable gaming journalist Jason Schreier reports that the celebrated Rocksteady Studios is developing a new, single-player Batman game.

Specifics remain limited; Schreier hasn't confirmed if it's a prequel, a sequel to the Arkham series, or a completely separate storyline. However, a source suggests Rocksteady is creating a Batman Beyond title, transporting players to a futuristic Gotham City. The goal? An ambitious trilogy. A next-generation console release is anticipated.

The Arkham series was lauded for its stunning graphics, and a futuristic Gotham setting could be Rocksteady's most visually impressive project yet. The Batman Beyond shift also addresses a significant challenge: Batman's voice. Following the passing of the iconic Kevin Conroy in 2022, the studio might focus on Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne – a similar approach considered by Warner Bros. Montreal for their canceled Arkham Knight sequel.

Rocksteady's previous endeavor faced difficulties – their online shooter didn't resonate with players, leading to its failure. Post-launch plans were abandoned within a year, culminating in a hastily produced animated conclusion that reversed controversial plot elements, revealing certain fallen heroes as clones.

Rocksteady is now returning to its strengths, developing a new solo Batman experience. However, sources caution that the game is still several years from release.
