Midjiwan has unleashed a significant update for The Battle of Polytopia: a complete overhaul of the Aquarion Tribe. This marks a substantial rework of the game's first special tribe, originally introduced in 2017.
Aquarion's Aquatic Transformation
The Aquarion units receive a dramatic makeover. Land units now sport mermaid tails, granting them amphibious capabilities. They move effortlessly across water but are slower on land. This update also introduces flooded terrain, allowing land and naval units to occupy the same space for the first time.
Buildings have also adapted to the aquatic environment. Construction on water is now possible, and Lost Cities are hidden within deep-sea ruins, providing ideal strategic bases for water-based warfare. A new structure, the Atoll, connects water cities, eliminating the need for roads. Aqua Crops, a vital resource, are now permanently available to the Aquarion. These function similarly to land-based crops.
New aquatic creatures join the fray, adding exciting strategic elements. Sharks ambush units, puffers provide long-range bombardment, and jellies unleash electric attacks. Returning favorites, the Tridentions and Crabs, also feature enhancements; Crabs now flood the tiles they traverse, synergizing effectively with the mermaid units. See it in action:
