Beginner's Guide to Mastering Rune Slayer

Author : Owen Apr 15,2025

After two failed launches and months of anticipation, Rune Slayer has finally arrived, and it's nothing short of glorious. Whether you're new to MMORPGs or a seasoned player, diving into Rune Slayer can be overwhelming. But don't worry, we've put together a comprehensive guide to help you kickstart your adventure in this exciting new world.

Rune Slayer Beginner Tips

Here are some essential tips that would have made our initial journey much smoother:

Do not randomly attack other players

When we first heard about Rune Slayer's full-loot PvP, we were concerned it might turn into a chaotic bloodbath. Fortunately, our fears were mostly unfounded. **When you die in Rune Slayer, you don't lose anything**, even if it's at the hands of another player. You simply respawn and continue playing.

However, **attacking other players comes with a bounty**. The more players you kill, the higher your bounty grows, and with a higher bounty, **you'll drop more items upon death**. In essence, the only way to engage in full-loot PvP is by initiating combat and risking a bounty. Therefore, we strongly recommend **avoiding attacks on other players** unless you have a solid reason or a supportive group of friends.

Craft Bags ASAP

You'll quickly discover that both your **bank space and inventory** are quite limited. With only 50 item slots, your inventory can fill up fast. To address this, **the game allows you to craft bags**. You can equip up to two bags simultaneously, starting with the **Cotton Bag**.

To craft a Cotton Bag, **collect Cotton from north of Wayshire and Flax from the south**. Be cautious when heading south, as it can be dangerous due to mobs. Each Cotton Bag adds an extra 10 slots, so make crafting these a priority.

Your pets don’t actually die

There's a common misconception that your tamed pets die permanently when their health reaches zero. This isn't true. **When your pet's health drops to zero, it simply can't be summoned for 5 minutes**. You can check the cooldown by holding **T**. Once the cooldown is over, hold **T** again to summon your pet back.

Bonus Tip: To **quickly heal your pet**, **store and unstore it at the stable master**. You have one free slot, so make use of it.

Grab all the Quests (Yes, all of them)

Rune Slayer is packed with numerous quests, most of which are non-repeatable and can feel somewhat repetitive. They often resemble typical "Kill 10 X Quests" found in many MMORPGs. Since it's easy to overlook or forget about them, **accept every quest you come across**. This includes quests from the Job board. Completing multiple quests simultaneously is far more efficient than tackling them one by one. You might even complete several quests at once without realizing it.

Craft everything at least once (even things you don’t need)

While you should prioritize crafting items you need, **use any spare materials to craft other items**. Crafting items for the first time often **unlocks new, more powerful crafts**. For example, smelting our first Iron Ore unlocked a range of new Iron Armor crafts. So, don't hoard your materials; craft away and discover new possibilities.

Join a Guild

Rune Slayer is very solo-friendly, but as you progress, you'll encounter **more challenging enemies**. Some of these, particularly those with large health bars, are designed to be tackled in groups. **Joining a guild** is the easiest way to find a group to take on these tougher foes. Use the general chat to express your interest in joining a guild, or check out the official Rune Slayer Discord server to find one that suits you.

And that's all you need to know to get started. Enjoy your journey in Rune Slayer, and if you haven't already, make sure to check out the Rune Slayer Trello and Discord for more tips and community support.
