Baldur's Gate 3's upcoming Patch 7 introduces terrifying new evil endings, offering players a chilling glimpse into the game's darker possibilities. A recent 52-second cinematic preview on X (formerly Twitter) showcases one such ending, focusing on the Dark Urge's descent into absolute evil.
A Father's Legacy of Terror
The preview depicts a horrifying scenario: the Dark Urge's companions witnessing their leader succumb to Bhaal's influence, seizing control of the Netherbrain. This grim spectacle foreshadows a reign of terror, with the companions becoming the first casualties. The Dark Urge, through mind control, forces their companions to their deaths. A chilling narration accompanies the scene: "Time for the final act. Your tragedy has become mankind's," before the Dark Urge suffers a similar fate.
This is just one of several new evil endings promised in Larian Studios' April community update, which pledged "improved evil endings...for even darker conclusions." Excitingly, these endings aren't exclusive to Dark Urge playthroughs. Previously teased endings include the Dark Urge amidst a sea of blood and corpses, and an entire town consumed by "sheer mindless bliss" under the True Absolute.
Patch 7: More Than Just Evil Endings
Patch 7 is a massive update, brimming with new content and improvements. Beyond the sinister endings, expect a dynamic split-screen mode for co-op, enhanced Honour Mode challenges, and a highly anticipated modding toolkit.
Larian Studios has confirmed that this isn't the end for Baldur's Gate 3. Crossplay and photo mode are on the roadmap, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing enhancements based on player feedback.
Currently in closed beta, Patch 7 is slated for release this September. While the exact date remains undisclosed, players can register on the Steam store page for early access. Larian Studios' dedication to refining Baldur's Gate 3 into a definitive RPG experience is evident, solidifying its position as a genre masterpiece.
