In 2025, World of Warcraft players can look forward to a groundbreaking addition to the game: the introduction of a housing system. Blizzard has unveiled the first details, promising an accessible experience for all players. This system will not demand complex requirements, high prices, or participation in lotteries, and importantly, homes will not be removed due to lapsed subscriptions. The full rollout of this exciting feature is scheduled for the Midnight expansion.
Upon launch, players will have the opportunity to select a plot in one of two distinct zones: the Alliance can settle in Elwynn Forest, with touches from Westfall and Duskwood, while the Horde can claim a spot in Durotar, incorporating elements from Azshara and the Durotar coastline. Each zone will be segmented into districts, hosting approximately 50 homes per district. Players will have the flexibility to choose between settling in an open area or forming a private community alongside friends and guildmates.
Blizzard is committed to offering a broad spectrum of decoration options for home customization. While most of these options will be accessible in-game, select items will be available through the shop. The developers have outlined three core principles guiding the housing concept: extensive customization, fostering social interaction, and ensuring longevity. As the system develops, Blizzard plans to release further details and encourages the community to share their insights and expectations.
