Devil May Cry 5 has achieved a remarkable sales milestone of 10 million units, with Capcom crediting the recently launched Netflix anime series for helping the video game cross this significant threshold.

Released in March 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Devil May Cry 5 was met with widespread acclaim from both players and critics. IGN's review awarded it a 9.5, praising the game: "Devil May Cry 5's trio of outstanding combat styles raises the bar for the franchise, while its engaging, mysterious narrative keeps players invested throughout the journey."

Six years post-launch, Devil May Cry 5 stands as a monumental success for Capcom. The company noted, “The title has earned strong user support thanks to its exceptional gameplay, leading to sustained catalog sales since its debut.”

“Capcom enhanced the game with a more advanced story and refined action mechanics, including a new playable character. More recently, on April 3, 2025, the company launched a new Devil May Cry animated series on Netflix as part of its Single Content Multiple Usage strategy.

"The animated series received critical acclaim worldwide, amassing over 5.3 million views and ranking fourth globally in its first week in the 'Shows | English' category. It also remained in Japan’s top 10 for seven consecutive days. Thanks to the game's exhilarating action and strategic brand expansion beyond video games—including television adaptations—the title has now surpassed 10 million cumulative sales worldwide.”

Given Devil May Cry 5's impressive performance (the series as a whole has sold over 33 million units since the original’s 2001 debut), the question arises: When can we expect Devil May Cry 6? Another installment appears inevitable, especially considering DMC5's 10 million sales in just six years.

Capcom remains tight-lipped for now, especially with a packed development schedule. Beyond supporting ongoing titles like Monster Hunter Wilds and Street Fighter 6, the company has announced Resident Evil: Requiem and recently re-revealed Pragmata.

That said, Devil May Cry 5 is by far the best-selling entry in the franchise and has now entered Capcom’s all-time top 10 best-sellers list. Dante and his crew will undoubtedly return—the only question is when.
