Get ready, Call of Duty fans! The official Call of Duty podcast has confirmed the beta testing dates for Black Ops 6. This exciting news, along with other details, is outlined below.
Black Ops 6 Beta: A Two-Phase Launch
Activision's announcement reveals a two-part beta testing period. Early access begins August 30th and runs until September 4th, exclusively for those who pre-ordered Black Ops 6 or have active subscriptions to select Game Pass plans. The open beta follows, free for everyone from September 6th to 9th. Mark your calendars!
The full game launches October 25th, 2024, on PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
New and Enhanced Gameplay Mechanics
Treyarch's Associate Director of Design, Matt Scronce, shared some exciting details during the podcast. Black Ops 6 will boast 16 multiplayer maps at launch: 12 standard 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps playable in both 6v6 and 2v2 modes. The beloved Zombies mode returns with two brand-new maps. A significant addition is the "Omnimovement" mechanic.
The traditional scorestreak system, absent in Black Ops Cold War, makes a triumphant return. Scores will reset upon player elimination. Another noteworthy feature is the dedicated melee weapon slot, eliminating the need to sacrifice a secondary weapon for a knife – a change the Treyarch team is particularly enthusiastic about.
A comprehensive Black Ops 6 multiplayer reveal is scheduled for the Call of Duty Next event on August 28th.
