Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Developers Looking Into Switch 2 Port
Says It "Could Be Interesting"
The success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 may encourage developer Sandfall Interactive to bring the title to the Switch 2. In an interview with French YouTuber mistermv on May 2, Expedition 33 Director Guillaume Broche outlined the studio's plans following their impressive launch.
He noted that the game’s achievements "changes everything," and the team is currently deliberating their next steps. Broche remarked, "Well, at this point, considering the success of the game, it kind of changes everything."
When questioned about a potential Switch 2 release, he mentioned that the studio is receiving numerous opportunities and is still deciding which ones to pursue. "So clearly, it's too early to say, but we're kind of in a situation where... let's say there are a lot of opportunities showing up - way too many at once - and we're figuring out what we'll go for and what we won't. But yeah, it's definitely something that could be interesting," Broche explained.
With the Switch 2 approaching its launch date, it seems fitting that this year’s top-rated game might also arrive on Nintendo’s latest handheld console. Regardless, fans simply need to wait and see if they will eventually be able to play the Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG on the new device.
No Official Merchandise…Yet!
With that said, requests and opportunities are flooding into Sandfall Interactive like wildfire, including a request for an official plush of the beloved character Esquie. The studio noted to fans that they have not yet released any official merchandise for the game and warned against fake items sold online. In a Twitter (X) post on May 14, they pointed out suspicious sites selling Esquie plushies, stating, "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed."
They also mentioned that many of these bootleg items feature AI-generated artwork, which Sandfall strongly advises against purchasing. Furthermore, some may turn out to be scams. However, the studio confirmed they are considering producing official Esquie plushies.
The post reads, "But here’s the wheee to balance out the whooo: we are looking into making official Esquie plushies, and we want to bring them to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!"
Fans cannot seem to get enough of Expedition 33, and based on Sandfall’s recent tweet, they will soon have access to the game's official merchandise.
