Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is set to receive a significant free update. Developer Sandfall Interactive announced the news in a blog post on October 8, detailing a new explorable region, a formidable new boss, and other additions. The studio thanked the community for helping the game surpass "5 million copies sold worldwide."

To celebrate this sales milestone, the team is expanding the game as a gesture of thanks. Players will soon embark on a fresh adventure with the members of Expedition 33.

Endgame players can look forward to new, difficult boss encounters. The update also adds unique costumes for each expedition member and extends text and UI localization to include Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, and other languages.

Previously, Lead Writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen hinted at potential DLC or expansions following the game's remarkable success. In June, the team also mentioned working on numerous future enhancements, fueling fan hopes for more content.

With Sandfall Interactive now confirming a major update, the community is eager to dive into new stories with the expedition crew. In an interview with Eurogamer on the same day, Game Director Guillaume Broche teased that fans should expect "a bit of whee, and a bit of whoo as well" from the new content.

He clarified, "This isn't a massive DLC with hours of content. It's more of a thank-you gift. You'll have quite a few things to do and collect… plus some highly requested quality-of-life improvements from the community."

As of now, Sandfall Interactive has not announced a release date for this update.

Celebrating 5 Million Sales and 333 Million Music Streams

As noted, Expedition 33 has sold over 5 million copies within just five months of launch. The developers expressed deep gratitude to the fans for their support through artwork, stories, cosplay, and creativity.

Beyond this achievement, the game's original soundtrack is also a hit, amassing "over 333 million track streams since release." With the new content on the horizon, Expedition 33 is poised to continue setting records and expanding its beautiful Belle Époque-inspired world.
