Classic DOOM and DOOM 2 have received an update

While awaiting the release of DOOM: The Dark Ages, many are revisiting the classic DOOM games. Good news! A recent update for the DOOM + DOOM 2 compilation has significantly enhanced the experience.

This update boasts improved game stability and much more. Crucially, it now supports multiplayer modifications. For compatibility, mods must be created using Vanilla DOOM, DeHackEd, MBF21, or BOOM. Cooperative gameplay has also received a boost with the addition of item sharing and an observer mode for players awaiting revival. Multiplayer network code has also been optimized. Finally, the mod loader can now handle subscriptions exceeding 100 mods.

Looking ahead to DOOM: The Dark Ages, accessibility is a key focus. The game will offer extensive customization options, surpassing previous id Software titles. Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasizes the game's accessibility, highlighting the ability to adjust demon aggression in the settings.

Players will have granular control over enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, damage taken by projectiles, and other parameters like game pace, aggression levels, and parry timing. Stratton assures players that prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't necessary to understand its narrative, which connects seamlessly with DOOM: Eternal.
