Author : Ryan Mar 12,2025

The mid-2010s saw the critically acclaimed, three-season run of Daredevil, captivating audiences with its gritty portrayal of Hell's Kitchen. The 2018 Netflix cancellation, therefore, came as a shock. While Charlie Cox's Daredevil made brief appearances in subsequent MCU projects like She-Hulk and Spider-Man: No Way Home, a solo series revival was unexpected. Now, Daredevil is back, and although airing on the more family-friendly Disney+, Marvel promises a return to the show's signature grit and action.

What Is Daredevil: Born Again About?

Serving as a sequel to the 2015 series, Daredevil: Born Again largely carries over characters and plotlines. While its precise placement in the MCU timeline remains unclear, Charlie Cox's Daredevil has featured prominently in The Defenders and made smaller appearances in She-Hulk and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Wilson Fisk, Daredevil's primary antagonist, appeared in the Disney+ series Echo.

Inspired by Frank Miller's "Born Again" arc, the show isn't a direct adaptation. Marvel's official synopsis describes the story: Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, fights for justice, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues political ambitions in New York. Their pasts collide, setting them on a collision course.

Will There Be a Season 2?

Initially planned as a 19-episode season, Daredevil: Born Again is now split into two nine-episode seasons. Season two's release date is yet to be announced.

What About the Rest of 'The Defenders'?

Once part of The Defenders (a one-season series following Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist), the possibility of other Defenders' returns is being "explored," according to Marvel's head of streaming, television, and animation.
