Koei Tecmo unveils a new trailer for Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation PRISM, a romance game spin-off from their popular fighting game franchise.
Launching March 27th on PS5, PS4, and PC, the game features a special Asian "global version" with English text support. Players can engage in mini-games, customize character appearances, and bask in the tropical island setting. The developers promise diverse relationship-building mechanics and a captivating romantic storyline.
Venus Vacation PRISM represents a departure for Dead or Alive fans, offering a unique gameplay experience while retaining the series' distinctive style.
However, even this venture highlights the ongoing challenge of balancing fan creativity with intellectual property rights. Koei Tecmo annually removes hundreds of doujinshi and thousands of images depicting the franchise's characters in unofficial "adult" content, despite the series' popularity and the significant fan-created artwork. The Dead or Alive series, known for its fighting mechanics and attractive female characters often depicted in swimwear, inevitably attracts fan-made adult content, a trend the developers actively counter.
