The DOOM franchise's cross-platform adaptability continues to amaze. A recent feat showcases the game running on an unexpected platform: Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. NyanSatan, the individual behind this achievement, leveraged the adapter's iOS-based firmware and 168 MHz processor. Utilizing a MacBook for memory (as the adapter lacks internal storage), they successfully executed the classic DOOM game.
The upcoming DOOM: The Dark Ages promises increased accessibility. Developers aim to make the game enjoyable for a wider audience. This includes significant customization options, unlike previous id Software titles.
Executive producer Marty Stratton highlights the game's accessibility features. Players can adjust enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, enemy health, game pace, aggression levels, and parry timing. Crucially, Stratton confirms that prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't required to understand its narrative, which connects to DOOM: Eternal.
