A Decade in the Making
The journey to Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been long and complex, marked by significant delays spanning almost a decade. Development started in 2015, following Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare's focus shifted to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, impacting resource allocation and ultimately pausing development (then codenamed "Joplin"). The initial design didn't align with the company's live-service strategy.
The project was revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison." After further development, it was officially announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022, before settling on its current title.
Despite the challenges, the wait is nearly over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is launching this fall on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Get ready to return to Thedas!
