Unsurprisingly, EA is eyeing the Nintendo Switch 2 as a key platform for its game portfolio. During a recent earnings call, CEO Andrew Wilson addressed inquiries about Nintendo's next-generation console, indicating the company's plans to bring multiple titles to the system.
Wilson specifically highlighted EA's flagship sports franchises—Madden and FC—as having strong potential on the Switch 2, while also mentioning The Sims as another title likely to thrive on the new hardware.
"Every new console launch presents an opportunity to reach and engage fresh audiences," Wilson noted. "Historically, our franchises have performed exceptionally well on Nintendo platforms. We anticipate titles like FC and Madden will resonate strongly with Switch 2 players, just as they have in previous generations."
"Consider The Sims and the My Sims cozy bundle, which exceeded our projections—50% of players were completely new to EA. This demonstrates tremendous potential for expanding our player base."
"While we haven't factored specifics into our forecasts yet, we're confident that whenever a major new console enters the market, especially one that connects us with new communities, our IP portfolio stands to benefit significantly."
While Madden and FC releases for Switch 2 were expected, many fans are curious about the versions they'll receive. EA previously offered scaled-back "Legacy Editions" of FIFA for Nintendo Switch, though recent FC titles have moved closer to parity with other platforms. With Switch 2's enhanced capabilities, future releases like FC 26 could potentially match their PlayStation, Xbox, and PC counterparts more closely.
Following Nintendo's Switch 2 announcement, we're gradually learning what to expect from its game library. Numerous third-party titles are rumored for the console—Civilization 7 developers at Firaxis expressed interest in the system's rumored Joy-Con mouse functionality, while publisher Nacon confirmed several Switch 2 projects already in development. Highly anticipated titles like Hollow Knight: Silksong are also speculated to target the new platform.
