Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Returns to Esports World Cup 2025
Following the apparent success of the Esports World Cup 2024, several game publishers have announced their return for the 2025 edition. Moonton's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) is the latest to confirm its participation, joining Garena's Free Fire.
The 2024 Esports World Cup featured two MLBB events: the MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women's Invitational. These tournaments brought together teams from various regions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Selangor Red Giants emerged victorious in the MSC, while Smart Omega Empress defeated Team Vitality (ending their 25-game win streak) to claim the Women's Invitational title.
A Strong Showing, But Is It Enough?
Most games from the 2024 Esports World Cup appear to be returning in 2025. However, a notable observation is the lack of truly major championships represented. The inclusion of MLBB's mid-season cup, for instance, might suggest the Esports World Cup is viewed as a supplementary event rather than the primary competition. This is a double-edged sword; it prevents the EWC from overshadowing existing leagues but could also diminish its perceived importance.
Regardless, fans of these games will undoubtedly welcome their return to this prestigious tournament.
