The original Japanese release of ETE Chronicle underwhelmed due to its unexpected turn-based gameplay, diverging from anticipated mecha action. However, the developers responded to criticism by significantly overhauling the game for its Chinese release, transforming it into a fast-paced action title. This revamped version, ETE Chronicle:Re, replaces the original JP version, with player purchases from the original carrying over.
A World in Ruins:
ETE Chronicle:Re plunges players into a chaotic future where humanity battles for survival. The Yggdrasil Corporation, utilizing technology derived from extraterrestrial remnants, created the Galar exoskeleton and the Tenkyu orbital base, devastating the Earth.
Humanity's last hope lies with the Humanity Alliance and their E.T.E. combat machines, piloted by skilled female operatives. As an enforcer, your strategic decisions directly influence both combat outcomes and the fates of your team members.
Dynamic Real-Time Combat:
Commanding a four-character squad, ETE Chronicle:Re demands quick thinking and even faster reflexes. The game's semi-real-time battle system requires constant adaptation and strategic adjustments amidst enemy fire.
Concerns remain among some players regarding repetitive gameplay elements from the original. Criticisms included monotonous combat loops, inflexible party movement, and the inability to effectively flank enemies. Whether ETE Chronicle:Re addresses these issues remains to be seen.
