FFVII Remake Part 3 in Active Development

Game director Hamaguchi recently provided an update on the highly anticipated sequel, urging fans to exercise patience as new details will be revealed at a later date. The team is diligently working on the project, he confirmed.

Hamaguchi highlighted the success of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024, noting its numerous accolades and global player engagement. Building on this momentum, the developers aim to broaden the game's appeal and introduce fresh challenges in the third installment.

Among the titles that caught Hamaguchi's attention this year was Grand Theft Auto VI. He expressed admiration for Rockstar Games, acknowledging the immense pressure they face following the phenomenal success of GTA V.

Specifics regarding the third game remain undisclosed, but Hamaguchi offered reassurance that development is progressing smoothly. While the team is currently focused on the recently released Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, he emphasized that players can expect a truly unique experience.

Despite the positive outlook for the sequel, the May 2024 launch of Final Fantasy XVI fell short of projected sales targets, though precise figures haven't been released. Similarly, sales of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth also lagged behind expectations, although Square Enix clarified that they don't view the results as a complete failure. The company remains confident that Final Fantasy XVI can still meet its sales goals within the allotted 18-month timeframe.
