Sid Meier's Civilization VII - VR, the franchise's first VR title, is slated for a Spring 2025 release, exclusively on Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets. Here's the official description:

Civilization VII - VR brings the world of Civilization to life like never before. The game unfolds on a Command Table, allowing players to zoom in for intricate detail or zoom out for a strategic overview. Engage directly with world leaders, forging alliances or declaring war across the ages.

Play in immersive VR or mixed reality, switching seamlessly between the two. VR transports players to a personalized museum vista, while mixed reality adapts the Command Table to your physical space. Detailed dioramas showcasing your achievements are viewable in The Archives, accessible in both VR and mixed reality. Online multiplayer supports up to four players on Meta Quest 3 and 3S.

The PC and console versions of Civilization VII, currently available via early access, have received mixed reception. Steam reviews cite UI issues, limited map variety, and missing features as key concerns.

Firaxis has acknowledged this feedback, pledging improvements to the UI, the addition of team-based multiplayer, expanded map types, and other enhancements.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, in an interview with IGN, acknowledged the negative reviews but expressed confidence that the game's performance will improve over time and that the core fanbase will ultimately embrace it, describing the early performance as "very encouraging."
