Nearly a year after its release, Forspoken continues to spark heated debate among players, even in its current free-to-play iteration on PS Plus. Those who experienced it for free are just as divided in their opinions as those who paid full price.
The December 2024 PS Plus Extra and Premium lineup announcement revealed a surprisingly positive reaction to Forspoken (alongside Sonic Frontiers), with many players expressing anticipation.
However, a significant portion of those who gave Forspoken a try abandoned it within hours, citing "ridiculous dialogue" and a weak narrative. While some appreciated the combat, parkour, and exploration, the general consensus points to the story and dialogue as major detractors, rendering the experience unbearable for many.
It seems PS Plus hasn't revitalized Forspoken's reception; the game's inconsistency remains a significant hurdle. In this action RPG, Frey, a young woman from New York, is inexplicably transported to the breathtaking yet perilous land of Athia. Armed with newfound magical abilities, Frey must navigate the vast landscape, battle monstrous creatures, and defeat powerful matriarchs known as the Tantas to find her way back home.
