Freedom Wars Remastered: Enhanced Gameplay and New Features Revealed
A new trailer from Bandai Namco showcases the gameplay and significant upgrades in Freedom Wars Remastered. This action RPG boasts enhanced visuals, improved game balance, a challenging new difficulty setting, and numerous feature updates. Launching January 10th on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC, Freedom Wars Remastered offers a refined experience for both veterans and newcomers.
The game's core loop remains intact: players battle colossal mechanical creatures known as Abductors, gather resources, and upgrade their equipment for increasingly powerful assaults. The setting is a bleak, resource-depleted dystopia where the protagonist, a "Sinner" convicted simply for being born, must complete missions to serve their Panopticon (city-state). Missions vary, from rescuing citizens to eliminating Abductors and securing control systems, and can be tackled solo or with online co-op partners.
Freedom Wars Remastered's visual enhancements are a key highlight. PS5 and PC players will enjoy 4K (2160p) resolution at 60 FPS, while PS4 offers 1080p at 60 FPS, and Switch delivers 1080p at 30 FPS. Beyond visuals, the gameplay itself is faster-paced, featuring improved movement and the ability to cancel weapon attacks.
The crafting and upgrade systems have undergone a complete overhaul. Players will find more intuitive interfaces and the ability to freely attach and detach modules. A new module synthesis feature allows for enhanced modules using resources gathered from rescued citizens. Finally, a grueling "Deadly Sinner" difficulty mode caters to seasoned players, and all original customization DLC from the PS Vita release is included from the outset. The trailer effectively demonstrates these improvements, highlighting the game's captivating blend of action and strategic resource management.
