In celebration of the "Nyras Prologue" demo launch for the Gothic 1 Remake, THQ Nordic and Alkimia Interactive have unveiled an accompanying trailer. While the original Gothic featured players as the Nameless Hero, the remake introduces Nyras, a prisoner navigating the game's brutal environment with the same core objective of survival.
The demo for the Gothic Remake was released during the Steam Next Fest event and has already broken records for concurrent players compared to other titles in the series. The image below showcases this achievement:
The demo highlights the remake's enhancements, including revamped graphics, animations, and a combat system powered by Unreal Engine 5. Although the prologue offers a glimpse into these improvements, it cannot fully capture the expansive freedom of action and deep RPG mechanics that players will encounter in the complete version of the game.
The Gothic Remake is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and GOG. An official release date has yet to be disclosed.
