GTA 5, Red Dead Sales Hit Record Highs

Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) continues to defy expectations, selling an impressive 5 million copies in the last three months alone—a remarkable feat for a game released over a decade ago (September 2013). Its enduring popularity solidifies its position as one of history's best-selling video games.

Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2), released in October 2018, also saw a sales surge, adding 3 million copies to its already substantial 70 million total in the recent quarter.

The sustained success of GTA 5 is significantly fueled by GTA Online, its ever-evolving multiplayer component. Take-Two Interactive's commitment to ongoing updates, such as the December 2024 release of "Agents of Sabotage," keeps players actively engaged.

Looking ahead, Take-Two has confirmed a Fall 2025 release for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. Further bolstering their upcoming lineup are Mafia: The Old Country (expected Summer 2025) and Borderlands 4 (anticipated later in 2025).

While concerns about potential delays for Grand Theft Auto VI are understandable, Take-Two's recent financial report reaffirmed its planned autumn release. Similarly, Borderlands 4 is confirmed for a 2025 release, although specific dates remain unannounced.

Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, acknowledged Rockstar's meticulous development approach, suggesting that additional time may be needed, mirroring the development cycles of previous titles like GTA 5 and RDR2. This statement, however, didn't alter the fall release window for GTA VI.
