With a new Wonder Woman film officially in development, everyone is watching James Gunn to see who he'll choose to succeed Gal Gadot as the iconic superhero in the rebooted DC Universe.
Speculation surrounding Gunn’s casting decisions for the DCU has been fueled by his social media activity, particularly regarding Adria Arjona, whom fans began eyeing as the next Wonder Woman after noticing Gunn follows her on Instagram.
In a recent interview, however, Gunn played down the importance of his online follows—though he left a hint that only intensified the buzz.

When asked by Extra about whether a female actor he follows might be cast as Wonder Woman, Gunn joked: "50% chance."
Gunn then mentioned Arjona by name, clearly the actress in question. Arjona, known for roles such as Dorothy Gale in Emerald City, Anathema Device in Good Omens, and Bix Caleen in Andor, is now at the center of Wonder Woman rumors after fans spotted Gunn's Instagram follow.
Gunn clarified that he's followed her since they collaborated on the 2016 thriller The Belko Experiment, urging fans not to overinterpret the connection. Still, he added that Arjona "would be a great Wonder Woman," just the kind of remark that keeps hopeful speculation alive.

Here's Gunn's complete statement:
“I followed Adria Arjona on Instagram, but then everyone jumped to conclusions: ‘He just followed her, so she must be Wonder Woman! She has to be Wonder Woman!’
“And by the way, she would make a fantastic Wonder Woman. But the truth is, she was in a movie I made seven years ago. We’ve been friends ever since. I followed her back then—it’s nothing new. People just tend to notice these things now.”
Does this mean Arjona will be the next Wonder Woman? While Gunn's comments have only fueled the rumors, it's important to note that DC Studios has not made any official announcement.
What we do know is that the new DCU begins in a major way with this month’s Superman, followed by Peacemaker Season 2 in August, and Supergirl and Clayface arriving in 2026. A release window for Wonder Woman has not yet been set.
