Anuttacon, an indie game developer founded by HoYoverse CEO Cai Haoyu, has just unveiled their debut title, Whispers From The Star, a narrative-driven sci-fi interactive experience. The excitement around the game surged when HoYoverse announced on Twitter (X) last week that a closed beta test is on the horizon.

In Whispers From The Star, players will embark on a thrilling journey with Stella, a university student studying astrophysics who finds herself stranded on the alien planet Gaia after a crash landing. With only her communicator for company, Stella relies on the player to guide her through her predicament using text, voice, and video messages.

The game's innovative gameplay centers on engaging in real conversations with Stella, a feature that Anuttacon aims to use to redefine interactive storytelling. By moving beyond traditional dialogue trees, the developers are leveraging AI-enhanced dialogue to foster open-ended, fluid, and deeply personal interactions, as reported by Bleeding Cool News.

While the potential for personalized gameplay has fans buzzing with anticipation, the use of AI in Whispers From The Star has also stirred debate on platforms like Reddit. Discussions highlight concerns over the emotional impact of forming relationships with AI characters and the broader implications for human actors, a topic made more sensitive by the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike focusing on AI's role in the entertainment industry.

Despite these concerns, Anuttacon is moving forward with a Closed Beta for Whispers From The Star, targeting select gamers in the United States. Although the exact date and time for the beta test remain undisclosed, eager players can sign up on the developer's website to reserve their spot. It's worth noting that this beta is exclusively for users with an iPhone 12 or newer model; Android devices and iPads are not supported at this stage.
