TouchArcade's Weekly Update Roundup: Noteworthy Game Updates
Hello everyone! Welcome back to our weekly review of significant mobile game updates. This week, Shaun tackles a surprising number of free-to-play match-three puzzle game updates – but fear not, there are some excellent titles beyond that genre as well. Let's dive in! Peglin (Free): This week's coveted UMMSotW (Update Making Me Smile of the Week) award goes to Peglin! Version 1.0 introduces Cruciball challenges up to level 20, a new Slime Hive mini-boss encounter, and a plethora of refinements including bug fixes, balance adjustments, and general improvements.
Brawl Stars (Free): Get ready for Brawl Stars time! A new event featuring SpongeBob SquarePants is launching soon, alongside the arrival of two new Brawlers: the Mythic Moe and the Legendary Kenji. Several new Hypercharges for existing characters are also on the way, rolling out over the next few months.
stitch. (Premium): More Hoops await in the latest stitch. update! This update introduces a new set of puzzles with a martial arts theme (loosely, of course). More puzzles are always welcome in a satisfying puzzle game like this.
Genshin Impact (Free): The Natlan region has arrived in Genshin Impact, bringing with it three new characters (Mualani, Kinich, and Kachina), new weapons, events, stories, and artifacts. A substantial update, but in line with the game's typical large-scale content drops.
Temple Run: Puzzle Adventure (Apple Arcade): One hundred new levels have been added to this match-three spin-off, along with the usual tournament refresh. Whether this will satisfy players until the next update remains to be seen!
Jetpack Joyride 2 (Apple Arcade): Barry Steakfries blasts off into space in this update! The escape to the cosmos provides a fun narrative twist.
Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop: New character episodes for Sig, Carbuncle, and Rafisol are featured in Adventure Mode, alongside the addition of Meena as a playable character (though without her own episode). Seven new music tracks, arrangements of classic tunes, are also available.
Hearthstone (Free): Hearthstone's Battlegrounds Season 8, "Trinkets & Travels," has begun, introducing a new Trinket Shop mechanic where players can purchase items affecting the match twice per game.
Toon Blast (Free): Fifty new levels are available in a new episode themed around bees and happiness.
Royal Match (Free): One hundred new levels and a new jousting arena have been added. King Robert's continued demise (and resurrection) continues.
