The much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will feature different pricing strategies for Japan and the rest of the world, catering to regional economic factors and language preferences. This new gaming console will come in two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system, exclusively available in Japan, and a Multi-Language System, designed for global markets.
Switch 2 Will Have 2 Language System Versions
In Japan, the Nintendo Switch 2 with a Japanese-language system will be priced at approximately $330. In contrast, the Multi-Language System version, which will be available worldwide, will cost $449.99. This price discrepancy, exceeding $100, is influenced by the current economic situation, particularly the weakened yen against the US dollar. This pricing strategy aims to discourage tourists from purchasing the console in Japan for resale at a higher price elsewhere.
Residents of Japan will have the option to purchase the Multi-Language System version if they prefer. However, the Japanese-language system will be exclusively available in Japan and can only be linked to Nintendo Accounts set to the Japan region. This version will support only the Japanese language and will be limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop.
For fans outside Japan or those who prefer gaming in multiple languages, Nintendo recommends purchasing the Multi-Language System version. Further details about this version will be disclosed on April 4.

To acquire the Nintendo Switch 2, customers will need to participate in a lottery system through the My Nintendo Store.
