Keanu Reeves offers the most encouraging update yet on Constantine 2, confirming a script is now in the works.
John Constantine, the occult detective and exorcist from DC Comics, was memorably portrayed by Reeves in the 2005 film adaptation, which achieved cult classic status. For two decades, fans have clamored for a sequel, a desire Reeves has openly shared.
Now, Constantine 2 appears closer to reality than ever before, following a successful pitch meeting at DC Studios. Reeves revealed to Inverse, "We've been trying to make this film for over a decade, and we just recently put a story together and pitched it to DC Studios and they said, ‘Okay.’ So, we're going to try and write a script.”

While this news is promising, it's crucial to remember that DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran haven't officially greenlit the project. Constantine 2 remains unconfirmed within the rebooted DCU and hasn't been publicly acknowledged by Gunn or Safran. Uncertainty persists.
However, Reeves hinted at the film's setting, assuring fans it will remain within the universe of the original. "We're not going off that," he stated, adding with a touch of humor, "John Constantine's going to be tortured even more."
Reeves' announcement follows comments from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura in September, who revealed that a Constantine 2 script existed but admitted his apprehension about reading it. Speaking to ComicBook, di Bonaventura confessed, "You know it's in my inbox right now, funny enough. I'm too scared to read it, though, I want it to be good so bad. I’ll probably read it in the next few days, when I get on an airplane."
