To start this quest, head to the Tachov tavern and seek out Zdenyek the Mouth. Engage him in conversation, specifically asking him to share something informative. He'll then reveal details about a legendary axe hidden within the lake, setting you on your quest.
How to Find the Axe From the Lake
Before venturing forth, gather a spade. These are commonly found in graveyards or cemeteries on the outskirts of towns, or can be purchased from general traders. The spade is crucial for a later step.
Head to the quest marker, which encompasses a large area. Begin at the pier overlooking the water and follow the path north. Henry will comment on an undamaged tree and later a large rock along the way. These serve as navigational cues.
Continue along the path until you reach a gravesite near a tree. Use your spade to dig up the grave, revealing a gemstone silver ring, five marigolds, and a broken axe—the quest's namesake.
Repairing the Axe
To restore the axe, visit blacksmith Radovan in Tachov. He'll repair it for a hefty sum of 699.5 groschen and a fastening material (also available from Radovan). Once repaired, the broken axe transforms into the Adorned Axe.
Finally, return to Zdenyek to complete the quest and claim your reward—the Adorned Axe, ready for use in battle.
