The producer of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has highlighted a key difference between this series and the other two Game of Thrones shows.
Arriving on HBO Max in January 2026, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on George R. R. Martin's Dunk and Egg novella trilogy, a prequel to Game of Thrones set 90 years before the original story.
This is a major launch for HBO Max, but it stands apart from both Game of Thrones and the earlier spinoff House of the Dragon in several important respects—one of which is sure to get fans talking right away.
