Author : Lillian May 21,2025

Krysten Ritter is set to reprise her role as Jessica Jones in the upcoming second season of Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+. The announcement was made during the Disney Upfront presentation in New York, confirming months of speculation about the return of the Netflix Defenders to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Ritter joined her former co-star Charlie Cox on stage to share her enthusiasm for returning to the role. "It's so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU," she stated. "I'm so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!"

The series continued with two more seasons and a team-up in The Defenders. However, as Netflix's era with original Marvel content came to an end, so did the prospects of seeing Ritter as Jessica Jones again.

The landscape changed in 2021 when Disney regained the rights to several characters, including Jessica Jones. Following Charlie Cox's cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home and his starring role in the Daredevil: Born Again series, fans began to hope for the return of other Netflix heroes. With the Punisher playing a significant role in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, Ritter's return in Season 2 feels like a natural progression.

Ritter's most recent portrayal of Jessica Jones was in the third season, which aired in 2019. Her comments at the upfront presentation hint at future appearances for the character within the MCU, but for now, fans can look forward to seeing her in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. While a specific release date has not been announced, showrunner Dario Scardapane has indicated that new episodes are expected in March 2026.
