While many fans believed Patch 7 would be the last major update for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has exciting news: another substantial update is on the horizon for 2025. This update promises to enhance the gaming experience with crossplay support and a photo mode, alongside the introduction of 12 new subclasses, each offering unique mechanics that will deepen the strategic gameplay. Here, we delve into the details of four of these eagerly anticipated subclasses.
Oath of the Crown Paladin
The Oath of the Crown Paladin is a beacon of justice and order, dedicated to the welfare of society. This subclass introduces the powerful Divine Devotion ability, which not only absorbs incoming damage directed at allies but also restores their health, making it an invaluable asset in battle.
Arcane Archer
Merging martial skill with arcane magic, the Arcane Archer brings a new level of versatility to the battlefield. Their enchanted arrows can inflict a range of debilitating effects on enemies, such as blinding, weakening, or even temporarily banishing them to the Feywild. Moreover, if an arrow misses its mark, the Arcane Archer can redirect its trajectory to hit another foe, ensuring no shot goes to waste.
Drunken Master Monk
The Drunken Master Monk turns the art of combat into a dance fueled by alcohol. Their signature move intoxicates opponents, disorienting them while simultaneously enhancing the monk's own abilities. The technique known as Instant Sobriety can be used on an inebriated target, delivering a devastating blow that inflicts both physical and mental damage.
Swarmkeeper Ranger
The Swarmkeeper Ranger taps into the forces of nature, forming symbiotic alliances with swarms of creatures. These swarms not only provide a protective barrier around the ranger but also facilitate teleportation. In combat, the ranger can deploy various swarms to their advantage: electric jellyfish clusters for stunning effects, blinding moth clouds to disorient foes, and stinging bee legions capable of knocking back enemies failing a strength check by 4.5 meters.
With these new subclasses, Baldur's Gate 3 is set to offer even more diverse and engaging gameplay. Players can look forward to exploring these unique abilities and strategies when the update rolls out in 2025.
