Amazon has unveiled a new teaser for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, as production continues on the upcoming third season of the lavish TV series.
The brief clip, shared across social media, features Elendil (again portrayed by Peter McKenzie) preparing for war. Dressed in full armor, the actor lifts the legendary blade Narsil, standing poised on a windswept shore.
Elendil received Narsil in the season two finale, “Shadow and Flame,” which aired in October 2024. Still in Númenor, he is handed the sword by the deposed Queen Míriel and instructed to depart and reclaim his rightful throne—something he now appears to be setting out to do.

Production on the third season began in May and is still underway nearly four months later. Amazon has previously confirmed the series will leap forward in time, picking up the story “at the height of the war between the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord works to forge the One Ring.”
This initial glimpse signals the beginning of a series of teasers highlighting the evolving paths of key Rings of Power characters, as fans await official word on the third season’s premiere date.
The show last left its eleven main characters united in their determination to confront Sauron, who now wields the Nine Rings of Men. Meanwhile, Gandalf finally embraces the name he’s known by, and Elendil’s son Isildur departs for Númenor.
Of course, viewers familiar with The Lord of the Rings will recognize much of what’s to come. As depicted in the films’ opening prologue, Sauron is ultimately defeated by Isildur, who severs the Dark Lord’s finger—the one bearing the One Ring—using Narsil. (The blade breaks, but is reforged millennia later as Andúril, the sword wielded by Aragorn in The Return of the King.)
Elsewhere in Middle-earth, pre-production is intensifying for the Lord of the Rings prequel film The Hunt for Gollum, with actor and director Andy Serkis already in New Zealand ahead of filming. Veteran wizard Sir Ian McKellan recently confirmed that both Gandalf and Frodo will return in the upcoming movie, though their exact roles remain to be revealed.
