June seems distant for Magic fans anxiously awaiting the Final Fantasy crossover set. To bridge the wait, Wizards of the Coast has unveiled over a dozen never-before-seen cards including fan-favorites like Sephiroth, Yuffie, Cecil, Garland, and Chaos.
The preview showcases new cards alongside variant artworks, complementing the previously revealed commander cards: Tidus, Cloud, Y'shtola, and Terra. Highlights include legendary powerhouses like Sephiroth, plus fresh Food token artwork and variant arts for Stilzkin (Moogle Merchant), Sin (Spira's Punishment), and Summon: Shiva. Today's reveal highlights several innovative mechanics, including the debut of Saga creatures - summonable allies like Shiva (featured in the gallery). The set also reintroduces double-faced cards, perfectly exemplified by Cecil's dual personas: Dark Knight and Redeemed Paladin.
With over 100 legendary creatures planned - including 55 borderless variants illustrated by renowned Final Fantasy artists - this crossover promises unprecedented depth. The Standard-legal set will be fully draftable alongside four preconstructed Commander decks, each representing different Final Fantasy titles (VI, VII, X, and XIV). Each 100-card deck blends new Final Fantasy designs with existing Magic cards featuring FF-inspired art. Mark your calendars for June 13th.
