Author : Adam Feb 25,2025

Hasbro and Legendary Entertainment are teaming up to bring the world of Magic: The Gathering to the big and small screens. This ambitious project will encompass both films and television series, with the movie slated for initial development.

Legendary Entertainment, known for producing successful franchises like Dune, the Godzilla films (including Godzilla vs. Kong), and Detective Pikachu, will spearhead this endeavor. According to Legendary's chairman of worldwide production, Magic: The Gathering is a perfect fit for their commitment to carefully developing beloved intellectual properties.

PlayThe relationship between this Legendary-produced Magic: The Gathering adaptation and the previously announced Netflix animated series remains unclear. The report suggests they may be separate projects, but the possibility of the animated series integrating into this larger shared universe also exists.

Magic: The Gathering, a globally renowned trading card game launched by Wizards of the Coast in 1993, has a massive fanbase. Its acquisition by Hasbro in 1999 solidified its place within Hasbro's extensive portfolio.

This marks another step for Hasbro in adapting its popular properties for the screen. They have a history of successful (and less successful) film adaptations, including G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Dungeons & Dragons. Currently, Hasbro has multiple projects underway, including new G.I. Joe films, a Power Rangers movie, and even a Beyblade film.
