Mai Shiranui has caused a huge surge of interest in Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6, Capcom's hit fighting game, continues to attract players with its latest addition: Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series. Having already sold 4.4 million copies by December 31, 2024, the game has seen a significant boost in popularity thanks to this new character. While some fans felt the game lacked content, Mai Shiranui's arrival as the third fighter of Season 2 has proven a major success. Steam's peak online player count surged to over 63,000 on her release day—a significant increase from the previous peak of 24-27,000 and the best result since May 2024.

Available to Battle Pass holders, Mai Shiranui offers more than just combat prowess. In World Tour mode, players can cultivate relationships with her, learning her unique moves before testing them in Battle Hub. A second costume, inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, has also been added.

Further enriching the experience, Battle Hub temporarily welcomes Professor Woshige, a renowned fighting game developer, as a guest character until March 10th. The update also introduces new Master League ranks and rewards. Capcom showcased Mai Shiranui's impressive techniques in a dedicated trailer.
