Marvel Reportedly Pauses Work on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. TV Shows

Marvel Television has reportedly put three shows on hold: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Sources at Deadline indicate these projects, while never officially greenlit, haven't been cancelled outright and may still see the light of day. However, Marvel's shifted its focus.

This strategic change coincides with Marvel Studios' upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. This week, Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming and TV at Marvel Studios, revealed the studio's interest in reuniting the street-level heroes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist—better known as The Defenders.

Marvel Studios is now prioritizing developing more shows than it produces, a strategy Winderbaum explained to Screen Rant last year: “We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next.”

The news about Nova is particularly unexpected, especially considering that just two months ago, former Criminal Minds showrunner Ed Bernero was announced as writer and showrunner, with Nova confirmed for Disney+. For more details on Nova, see IGN's comprehensive article.

Strange Academy was anticipated to center around a magic school founded by Doctor Strange, with Wong as its headmaster. Details on Terror, Inc. remain scarce.

Currently confirmed Marvel TV show release dates are: Daredevil: Born Again on March 4th, Ironheart on June 24th, and Wonder Man in December, all on Disney+. Following the release of Captain America: Brave New World, three MCU films are slated for release this year: Thunderbolts in May and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
