Marvel Snap, developed by California-based Second Dinner and published by ByteDance's Nuverse, was unexpectedly removed from iOS and Android on January 18, 2025. This removal, impacting other ByteDance apps like CapCut and Lemon8, left many players frustrated, particularly due to the lack of prior warning. While users report authorization problems, the game remains accessible on Steam for PC users.
Second Dinner has publicly confirmed their commitment to restoring Marvel Snap's availability on mobile platforms, stating on Platform X: “Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress.” This follows player concerns about unauthorized spending prior to the ban.
Interestingly, the impact wasn't uniform across all ByteDance titles. While Marvel Snap was affected, other games like Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain accessible.
Prior to the ban, we discussed the recent addition of the Moonstone card. This Ongoing card (4/6) presents a significant meta shift, copying the Ongoing effects of 1, 2, and 3-cost cards in its lane. The abundance of low-cost Ongoing cards, unlike those solely focused on power generation (such as Ant-Man and U.S. Agent), allows Moonstone to rapidly accumulate power due to the free acquisition of these effects.
